KAMEA KIDS & Youth Camp

Each year in September, our son Matt’s church here in Port Moresby hosts a youth camp. Among those who came to camp this year were 12 Kamea youth plus three Kamea pastors. The Kamea boys stayed with our Weekend Translation guys before and after camp, sleeping shoulder to shoulder with them. The young ladies stayed with us before and after camp, and Lena fed the whole bunch in our house. Youth camp is a huge event for the church here, and it is a lifetime memory for our Kamea kids. There were lots of decisions made at camp, including the salvation of some of our Kamea kids.

Our Kamea friends from back in the village came to youth camp in Port Moresby
After a 3-day hike, they rode in the back of a truck to get to camp

KAMEA PASTORS Read the Kamea New Testament

During the camp, three Kamea pastors (Ben, Jack, and Judas) spent a good bit of time with us. Ben and I did some more reviews of corrections he has made on the Kamea translation, and all three pastors spent time practicing reading the Kamea New Testament out loud. Ben and I have worked on this for years together, but to hear Jack and Judas read a hard copy for the first time and understand it was such an encouragement. They took copies back to their villages (Tiava, Komako, and Kotidanga) to read with their people. Praise the Lord!

KELUA MEETING

Though the village name starts with a “K”, Kelua is not a Kamea village. Lena and I spent a wonderful week with Missionaries Kenny & Sheila Seremak at Open Bible Baptist Church in Kelua, Western Highlands. The church pitched a tent to celebrate their first anniversary, and what a joy it was to preach the Word to them several times last week. Most of the meetings were attended by other local churches from the Mt. Hagen area. We definitely saw the Lord work while we were there.

Kenny & Sheila Seremak–great missionaries, great friends!

It was also my privilege to teach for two days at Highlands Baptist Bible Institute while we were in Mt. Hagen. The classroom was packed out, and they were so attentive
